Elmbridge life, people and landscapes are to be brought to life in a book due to be printed later this year. The Elmbridge Hundred – A Visual Journey will document the beauty of the borough in. A stunning book of photographs showcasing the Borough of Elmbridge will be launched with a photographic exhibition at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in Walton this month.
The Elmbridge Hundred – A Visual Journey is the brainchild of Walton based landscape photographer, Astrid McGechan. It forms a companion piece to the history project The Elmbridge Hundred –. The River Mole has been an important source of power for almost as long as man has been settled along its banks.
Domesday Book listed some twenty mills on the river inand its waters turned the wheels of at least six mills within the area now forming the Borough of Elmbridge. Cobham - Downside Mill. A new book called " The Elmbridge Hundred - A Visual Journey ", which shows one hundred photographs taken in the Borough of Elmbridge, will be launched with a three-week exhibition at the Riverhouse Barn in Walton-on-Thames in November Landscape photographer Astrid McGechan set out to capture the beauty and variety.
The result will be a beautiful companion piece to The Elmbridge Hundred project, a community partnership set up in to celebrate the centenary of Elmbridge Museum. “Ten of the images in the book are the winning entries of a photographic competition, which was open to students from Elmbridge’s senior schools,” says Astrid.
